18 weeks.... It's A.....

I have been so busy these last few weeks and we've been in the middle of moving and going to Utah so I haven't been keeping up on my weekly posts! I have made it to that point!!!! We got to find out the sex of the baby!!!! Nick took the day off so he was able to go with me and I'm SO GLAD! Its an hour and a half drive to the doctor and this is one I didn't want him to miss!
My whole life I've only pictured myself with girls and even when I wasn't pregnant, everytime I saw a little girl with bows in her hair, I would get SO excited and just picture myself with my own little girl with hair I can put cute bows in! Well at our first ultrasound, after Nick and I saw the baby for the first time, We both had this HUGE feeling we were having a boy.  I was a little bummed, but for the past few months I've been looking and paying attention to mostly boy stuff. All my thoughts were of this little boy running with a football, playing with his daddy and I was actually really excited to have a boy. We had a boy name picked out and I just KNEW I was having a boy because I wanted a girl SO BAD! (and we can't decide on a girl name) Wednesday morning, Oct. 3rd, I woke up and I was SO EXCITED to be FINALLY finding out what our baby really was! All morning I kept picturing that moment when the tech would tell us what 'it' was and if I was going to be coming home telling Roxy is she was getting a brother or a sister! (Yes, we talk to our dog like she's a human! ;) Well I kept having thoughts, more than ever before, that it was a girl. I kept telling myself, no cuz I didn't want to get my hopes up. Well I went and put Roxy in her kennel and I had a feeling I was coming home and telling her she was getting a sister!!  I kept my thoughts to myself and on the LONG drive to the doctors Nick and I kept tossing ideas around and I still said... I think its a boy.  We got to the doctors and we were taken back and after about 15 mins of doing the measurements and having us watch the screen not have  A CLUE what we were looking at and making sure everything looked good.. the ultrasound tech FINALLY said... "Ok, have I made you wait long enough? Do you want to know what you're having?!" Of course we both said yes!!! She showed us the legs and then pointed to in between them and said... I don't see anything there... ITS A GIRL!!! Tears started rolling down my face! I couldn't believe it! I was SO EXCITED!! Nick was holding my hand and I looked over at him and squeezed it. He looked at me and smiled and had a look of 'aw crap' on his face! Fifteen more mins went by and she showed us all of the parts and said everything looked good and then she double checked and said... "its still a girl" Nick thought he would be funny and said.. "Dang it! It didn't change" LOL! He was really excited but kinda sad at the same time cuz he really wanted a boy. Its been a couple days and it has sunk in and now he is REALLY excited to be having a girl!! He just says his life is going to be VERY stressful!!! haha!

13 Weeks

I went to the specialist yesterday. It was really good!  The doctor didn't seem to be too concered about anything but did say that he wants me to have a C-section because of the surgery I had after I got married and I am totally ok with that! I'd rather be safe than sorry!
I woke up one morning last week and had a HORRIBLE feeling that something was wrong with my baby... I thought that he/she may not be alive..... YA HORRIBLE! I tried really hard to not stress about it and I thought that if something was wrong that my body would tell me.  Well yesterday when I went to the doctor I told him my concern and he said that my body wouldn't necessarily tell me if something was wrong. So that kind of freaked me out but he was really nice and took me into a room and used the little hand-held machine to check for the baby's heartbeat.  Well after like 2 mins of rubbing it over my tummy, he stopped and was like, ummm lets go into the ultrasound room.  Ya.. I was FREAKING OUT! He couldn't find the baby's heartbeat! I tried my hardest to keep it together and  I called Nick all in a panic and told him what was going on. While we waited for an ultrasound room to open, Tawni was doing her best to keep  me calm. (she told me later that she was feaking out too and didn't know what she was going to do if something was wrong with the baby) So about 5 mins. later they call me back to the Ultrasound room and he turns on the monitor and the baby wasn't moving and I couldn't hear anything... then FINALLY... I heard the heartbeat! Tears started rolling down my face! I was SO HAPPY to FINALLY hear my baby and know that everything was ok! The doctor said that everything sounded good and the baby was at the right measurements and everything for how far along I was.  I felt a HUGE sense of relief and I am SO GRATEFUL for technology and that I was able to hear my baby's heartbeat and know that everything is ok!

Our biggest adventure yet...

As many of you know, the move to Ehrenberg Arizona hasn't been the funnest thing for us.  I have spent MANY nights crying wishing I could just be back home.  From HATING our so called "house" to HATING not being around ANY of our family, from not being able to find a job to working the worst possible job EVER, I just wanted to turn back time and NEVER have moved here...I had pretty much given up on EVERYTHING! Then one day, I got a phone call.... it was my cousin Chandi. She has been living in North Carolina for a while and I asked how she was doing it, being so far away from everyone. We had a much needed talk and she gave me some really good advice. I was telling her that I am SO embarrassed by where we live and what we live in....... A trailer! You know, everyone gets SO EXCITED about stuff they do to their houses and they post pictures so everyone can see what fabulous stuff they have... well I haven't wanted to do that because I was embarrassed by all of it! We live in a MOBLE HOME, OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, our walls are wood paneling, the wallpaper is 70's floral, the shower and bath tubs are yellow, the carpet is atrocious, the blinds are stained and have holes, its kinda falling apart, and it smells! (luckily I sell scentsy!) So why would ANYONE want to live here?! Well I don't know, but Nick and I ended up here for some reason and we are making it work... Nick LOVES his job and is home by 5 every night, he doesn't work weekends and we have got to spend all this time together.. just the two of us and I wouldn't trade it for the world! I have been SO HUMBLED by living here.  WE may not live in the nicest house around, but we have nice things and we have each other. We have been SO BLESSED our whole lives with SO MUCH! My cousins advice was to take pictures of where we live and show them off.. be proud of where we live because we won't be here forever and one day we will be able to look back and say.... WE LIVED THERE!!! So I am taking my cousins advice and showing off our cute little old trailer that we call home... for now :) (Heavenly Father has definitely taught me the meaning of gratitude on this one!! :)

This is our  family room

One Bathroom

The other bathroom... isn't the wallpaper beautiful?!

The Kitchen

My Scrapbooking/Scentsy Room... look at that carpet!! :)

Our fabulous front yard!
This is the front door! The ramp is there because there was a handicap that lived here once.
Check it..... we have a palm tree in our front yard!!!! :)

Moving here from Utah has been SO different! Nick is contracted for 2 years and then he will be able to put in for a transfer!  I have to keep telling myself that this move isn't permanent! But we are enjoying it while we're here!  One of the hardest things has been location.... The only stores we have are Rite-Aid and K-mart. Then for groceries we have Albertsons and Smart and Final. But all of these stores are in California so they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive! So we have to travel quite aways to get to just about EVERYTHING! It is an hour and a half to two hours to: Lake Havasu City, AZ.  Yuma, AZ. Phoenix, AZ. and Palm Springs, CA. It has made it kind of fun because we REALLY look forward to the weekend because we get to go to the city!! :) We have LOVED getting to know all of the different towns and finding all the Malls!! Oh and we are only 3 hours from DISNEYLAND!!! We haven't been yet because it's SO expensive but I'm sure we'll make it there sooner that later! :)

For other news: Nick is serving in the Young Mens and I am in the Young Womens! We both LOVE our callings and they are definitely helping to make living away from home SO much easier!!  I was working at a Salon in Quartzite, AZ for just a couple weeks, but they close their shop for the summer because Quartzite is a SNOW BIRD town and EVERYONE leaves. I am planning on returning to the shop in late September! As for surviving the Summer heat down here... We are RIGHT on the Colorado River so we'll be in the water to stay cool! We also have thought about getting season passes to Knott's Soak City waterpark in Palm Springs! Well I hope I haven't overwhelmed you with this post! But thanks for reading!!

UTAH!!!!

Nick and I were lucky enough to go home to Utah last weekend to visit for a few days!!!! Nicks grandma turned 90 and They had a birthday party for her and we didn't want to miss it! So my parents were so generous and made it possible for us to be there! We were only able to be there for a few days and everything was so crazy, I didn't get any pictures :(  but we have the memories and I'm so glad!
We had so much fun while we were there! We started out late and didn't leave our house until 4:30 pm on friday and we drove ALL night and pulled into my parents driveway at 2:30 am. We got a few hours of sleep and then we started our short vacation! We had breakfast with my family and then I went and got my hair cut!! (It was greatly needed!) Then we went to surprise Nick's family, cuz they didnt know we were going to be there! They were at the church setting up for the party and we snuck up on his mom and scared her! It was sooo funny! So then we enjoyed the party and my parents came to see Nicks grandma and I left with them to get some dinner! Then later that night we were SO lucky to get together with All of our friends to play games! It was so nice to be with everyone again and it was so great that everyone could be there! We stayed out late and had so much fun! Then Sunday morning I got to go to church with my mom...well my dad too but he is busy bein the bishop! Then Nick and I went to church with his parents and his Nieces that were in town from vegas for the party!!! We had dinner with nicks family and then we went back to my parents house and played games with my family! Michelle and Jeff came over and I got to see her wedding dress!!! Im so excited for them!!! Monday morning we got up super early and headed back to bountiful so nick could play basketball with all of his buddies!! It was so fun seeing them all together! He has the most amazing group of friends! All of them are returned missionaries and doing such great things! After basketball we went to nicks parents for Jessi's birthday breakfast! Everyone was there and it was great! The vegas clan headed home and we went back to layton.  We spent the rest of the day just hangin out and I did my moms nails! That night we went to dinner with my family and Nicks parents! Then we went to my parents house and I cut everyones hair! It was great!  But all great things must come to an end :( we packed up Tuesday morning and headed back to Arizona. I am so grateful for the opportunity we had to be back home, even for just a little bit! There's no place like home!!! :)

The Big Move!!

Hello from Arizona!! We finally made it to our new home! You may be thinking, Wait?! Arizona? yes, we're livingin Arizona!  Nick got a job working in Blythe, California which happens to be right on the border of Cali and Arizona so we are living in a SMALL town called Ehrenberg on the Arizona side. Nick moved down three weeks before I did to do some training in Blythe and then Roxy and I got to go with him to Scottsdale for two weeks while he did training there!
FedEx is an excellent company to work for and they took such great care of us while we were in Scottsdale! They paid for our hotel room andall of nicks food! So we got to go to lots of different restaurants!
One place we went was The Old Tortilla Factory During the meal they bring out that
days specialty tortillas. We got to try the potato tortillas with Cheddar cheese butter. They
were interesting but We liked them.

We also went to the Cheesecake Factory, Ztejas, Olive Garden, Chilis, and some other yummy places but my Favorite place we went to was... BUFFALO WILD WINGS!!!! I fell in love with this place when I lived in Texas so I was so excited to go there!! (we went there twice!)

It wasn't the funnest thing staying in a hotel for two weeks, but I was SO GLAD the hotel allowed dogs.  Otherwise I would have had to stay home by myself and that would have been bad!  The other great thing about the hotel... being in Scottsdale and all, we got to swim OUTSIDE in the awesome pool in the middle of December!! It was great!! This is the view from our room!

The hotel just happened to be like 5 MINS. from the Scottsdale Mall, which was AMAZING!! It is 3 stories high and like 5 miles long! (ok not really that long, but it sure seems like it) It was AMAZING!!  We got to get some Christmas shopping done while we were there!
Well it all had to come to an end and we headed on the long drive home..... This is our view just about the ENTIRE DRIVE to and from Pheonix.... Or should  I say, ANYWHERE we go!

A whole lot of NOTHINGNESS!

So now we have settled in and life is pretty much back to normal.  Nick's new hours have been AWESOME and he is loving his new Job! I don't have a job yet, but I am looking.  I don't have my license in the State of California and in order for me to get it, I have to take California State Boards.  I REALLY don't want to go through that again, or pay to do it again so I have thought about getting a Job in Parker, Az which is 45 mins. from Ehrenberg.  Ya... 45 mins.  Wouldn't be so bad if there was actually something to look at while you took the drive, but as mentioned above..... WE LIVE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE! So 45 of nothingness, all by yourself, everyday???? Ya not so fun. So I decided to look into some salons in a town called Quartzite, Az.  It is only 25 mins. from us, but its a REALLY SMALL TOWN and like Blythe, its a Snow bird town, so they are busy in the winter but everyone leaves in the Summer. Also, out here, every salon is booth rent.  Which means, that you have to pay a monthly fee to basically rent out your station to do hair.  Well when you don't have a clientele, this is not the ideal situation to be in because you also have to supply ALL of your product.  (Color, perms, rods, capes, foils, etc.) Which is crazy expensive, just starting out. So I would basically have to "Start my own Business" to even work in one of the salons.  So all that being said, I've decided to put doing hair and nails off for now, maybe do it on the side in my house for some people. So now I'm on the look out for basically anything to keep me occupied! There are VERY few places here to work so we'll see.
